Design-Partner Phase · since September 2026
Test MAIQ in real day-to-day firm work — and actively help shape its future.
Since September, selected design partners have been using MAIQ with real matter data and in their own workflows. This first version doesn't yet cover the entire firm operation end-to-end and doesn't yet fully replace existing practice-management systems at this stage.
It already shows, however, how MAIQ understands information, prepares processes, and reduces administrative work. Design partners experience the Legal Operating System's potential early and feed their requirements directly into its development.
01 · Understand inbound items and organize work
Email and beA flow directly into MAIQ. Messages and documents are read, matched to matters, and structured. Tasks, deadlines, and priorities appear on the personal dashboard.
02 · Open new matters safely
A guided workflow ties together conflict checks, KYC and AML, matter creation, involved parties, effort estimation, and matter-opening documents. MAIQ automates and documents the process while critical steps stay under attorney control.
03 · Work matters with everything prepared
The central matter workspace brings communication, documents, deadlines, tasks, research, and the current case status together. MAIQ prepares next steps, emails, and drafts so the team can get into the legal work faster.

Design partners get close access to the product team and can feed real firm workflows, priorities, and requirements directly into development. Once the full version of MAIQ goes live, participating firms get priority onboarding and are among the first to fully move onto the new Legal Operating System.
Security & Compliance
Confidential matter data deserves more than standard security.
MAIQ is built on the principles of privacy by design and compliance by default. Data protection, attorney-client privilege, and human control aren't add-ons — they're built into the architecture, the contracts, and the workflows from the start.
01 · GDPR-compliant
MAIQ processes data on the firm's behalf under a data processing agreement per Art. 28 GDPR. Personal data is processed for a defined purpose, technically separated, and kept deletable under control — without losing the knowledge captured in matters.
02 · Compliant with §203 StGB and §43e BRAO
MAIQ and every sub-processor involved are covered by a dedicated contract structure for holders of professional secrecy obligations. Microsoft and all sub-processors have signed the additional agreement required for professionally compliant processing.
03 · Securely hosted and encrypted
MAIQ runs on Microsoft Azure, hosted in Frankfurt. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256. Database-level access limits and a complete audit trail protect sensitive firm and matter data.
No. Training generative foundation models on firm or matter data is contractually excluded. For processing unmasked data, MAIQ exclusively uses appropriately secured enterprise AI services within the designated European infrastructure.
MAIQ combines contractual and technical safeguards. Every customer contract includes a confidentiality agreement under §§ 43e BRAO, 203(3) StGB, a data processing agreement per Art. 28 GDPR with specific provisions for professional secrets, and a technical annex covering the security measures in use. Microsoft Azure and other sub-processors involved are covered by a corresponding §203-compliant contract structure — the necessary additional agreement has been signed with all of them.
Every legally relevant action requires explicit attorney sign-off through a review interface. Every sign-off is logged with a timestamp, user ID, and document version. MAIQ prepares. The firm reviews and decides.
AI-generated content is clearly labeled. Chat features transparently disclose that the interaction is with an AI system. The relevant transparency obligations are set out in Art. 50 of the EU AI Act; Art. 4 addresses the AI competence required of people working with AI systems. An assessment carried out in January 2026 with the TÜV SÜD AI Risk Navigator found that MAIQ's currently intended use is not classified as a high-risk AI system.
MAIQ is offered as a subscription per firm and per user. Design-partner firms receive dedicated terms, which we agree on in a personal conversation.
